Vine Grove Airport is owned and operated by Dennie Morris and his wife Julia. Dennie’s dad Randy Morris, his partners Bob Nall and Son Luke, owned and operated the airport for many years. During that time, they offered tiedown, hangar rental and flight training from our 2700’ grass runway, turning out hundreds of very well-trained pilots. In addition, Randy offered aircraft maintenance and inspection in the main hangar. In the early 2000’s flight training was discontinued, but they still offered maintenance and hangar rental.
After the passing of Bob Nall, Randy and Dennie joined together to purchase all the shares of the airport from Luke. Randy passed away in 2017 leaving the airport to Dennie and Julia, who continue the tradition of grass roots aviation. With the help of their Son Charlie Morris, they are now bringing back flight training to Vine Grove Airport.
Charlie’s love of flying started at a very young age riding with his Papaw and his dad in the family 7AC Champ. Then at the age of 14 with the encouragement of family friend Josef Schroeder, Charlie began lessons in gliders and did his first solo flight in a glider. He then earned his private pilot glider at age 16. He also soloed the family Champ at age 16. At age 17 he earned his private pilot single engine land certificate.
At age 18 and just out of high school Charlie joined the military and spent 6 years in the Army as a UAV operator (drone pilot). Charlie has continued his flight training and now holds a commercial license, instrument rating, and flight instructor rating.
